Niagara County Democratic Party Chairmen Nick Forster was unanimously reelected to another two-year term at the reorganization meeting of the county committee. Forster won the party's top post in 2012, and earlier served three terms as County Chairman.
"We are united as a party," Forster said. "And we have the energy and candidates that can bring fundamental change in Niagara County."
Forster pointed to the corruption investigations in Republican controlled Town of Lewiston and Town of Niagara as well as the federal grand jury probe of retiring Republican State Senator George Maziarz as examples cases where Republican leadership has failed to serve the public's interest.
"We can say goodbye to 'King George,'" Forster said of Maziarz. " The most important race we face this November is the state senate seat and in Johnny Destino we have an outstanding candidate who knows the issues and is working very hard. This is our election to win."
Forster invited six former party chairs to the meeting. They all praised Forster's leadership and pledged to work with him. On Forster's recommendation, the county committee voted unanimously to change its bylaws to name all former chairs as ex officio members of the party executive committee.
The committee also voted unanimously to rename Lora Allen as the Democratic Commissioner of the Niagara County Board of Elections. |
