Destino, Ceretto Endorsed By Teacher's Union

September 23, 2014

Johnny Destino, a Niagara Falls school board member and state senate candidate, shares a moment with Todd Hathaway, the political action committee coordinator for the 600,000 member New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) at the union's Champions of Education Night on Monday at the Millennium Hotel in Buffalo. NYSUT endorsed a slate of candidates for the November election that includes Destino, the endorsed Democratic candidate for the 62nd District State Senate seat, and Assemblyman John Ceretto of Lewiston, a Republican who is unopposed for re-election. Destino was singled out for his strong support of public education and Ceretto was named one of three champions of education. Monday's event was attended by more than 400 teachers from across Western New York including Phil Rumore, president of the Buffalo Teachers Federation and Niagara Wheatfield's Kevin Rustowicz who introduced Destino as a former student.
