It is always very exciting and challenging at the same time to begin something new, and that's how I feel about my new role as publisher of the Niagara Falls Reporter.
While I've only been on the job for a week, I am already fully engaged in the task ahead and am looking forward to implementing, among other things, a new distribution route and several new features to make our newspaper even more reader friendly and informative.
This newspaper has already established a reputation as a tough, no-holds barred investigative weekly and we will continue that brand of journalism as we go forward. But I think it is also important to broaden our coverage to include more community news and stories about everyday life, and that's what we will be working on in the coming weeks.
Since the announcement in last week's editions that I was joining the Niagara Falls Reporter after several years as publisher of the Niagara Gazette and Tonawanda News, my reception has been nothing short of incredible from many of the people in this community who I have worked with in the past and am proud to call my friends.
The warm welcome has come from community groups, advertisers, government officials, and regular folks who love to read the Niagara Falls Reporter and who are anxious to see the changes we intend to make as we go forward.
Let me take a moment here to provide all of our readers with my telephone number and I invite your suggestions and ideas about how we can make this newspaper even better in the coming weeks. I invite and welcome your ideas and comments and I can be reached, for the time being, at 585-472-1530. I have a temporary office at the One Niagara building 360 Rainbow Blvd., in Niagara Falls, but I am ready and willing to reach out to the community, as I have done so often in the past, and that means the ENTIRE readership market as we look to expand our publishing footprint.
I would ask your patience in the coming weeks as we plan and implement some of the things that are currently on the drawing board, but I can promise you that in the meantime, and beyond, you will continue to get some of the news and investigative stories that you will not be able to find anywhere else in this market because nothing is off limits.
I will continue to let you know how things are evolving at the Reporter as we go forward, and I look forward to talking to as many of you as I can as we go about building an even more exciting and informative newspaper for your enjoyment. |
