Acting Sheriff Michael Filicetti announces the arrest of Michael Ronghi, 21, of Buffalo and Todd Beyer, 20, of Cheektowaga on two counts each of Grand Larceny 4th degree (E felony).

Ronghi and Beyer are accused of contacting two different Niagara County residents who were on Facebook Marketplace regarding a dirt bike they each had for sale. A fake account name was used by the suspects.

At both of the residences, they asked to take the dirt bike for a short test drive. It was at this time that one of the two would drive off with the bike while the other was parked in the area with a U Haul truck.

Both were arrested on September 7, 2020 after a victim in Royalton followed them long enough for an officer to pull them over. Ronghi and Beyer were subsequently released on their own recognizance and will have future court dates in the Towns of Pendleton and Royalton.

Another law enforcement agency in Niagara County is actively investigating these two for a similar crime in their jurisdiction. Investigation is continuing by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau.
