Niagara Falls Republican Committee Seeks Candidates for 2019 Election

The Niagara Falls Republican Committee announced that it is
accepting applications from individuals who wish to be candidates on the party’s ticket for the following
seats up for grabs for 2019: Niagara Falls Mayor, Niagara Falls City Council, and Niagara County
Legislature’s 3 rd , 4 th , and 5 th Districts.
William Carroll, Chairman for the city’s GOP committee, noted that due to the recent changes in New
York State’s election laws, the call for candidates has been moved up significantly. The NYS Legislature
recently voted to change the State’s Primary election date to June. This requires candidates to collect
petition signatures during March if they intend to be on the Primary ballot for any party. Traditionally,
state and local primaries have taken place in September, with petition season beginning in June.
“The NYS Legislature handed us this card and we need to mobilize our people quickly to help any
candidates that want to be on the ballot come June for the Republican line,” Carroll said. “This is an
extremely important year for Niagara Falls, as we decide who will be our next mayor. There are also two
council seats as well as legislature seats at stake.”
Carroll stated that interested candidates should submit their letters of interest to the Niagara Falls GOP
Box 372, 2315 Whirlpool Street. Niagara Falls NY 14305. Please include resume, position platform, and
letter of intent. The deadline for submissions February 10. The petition process begins late February.
