Four Niagara Falls residents have taken it upon themselves to bring Christmas cheer to those in need this holiday season.

The group, including Christina Palmeri, Katie Edwards, Kate Molinaro and Joe Crane, started a Facebook group called “Made in the 716” during the COVID-19 pandemic to highlight essential workers as well as give back to our local community. The group told the Niagara Reporter that they are currently finishing their 1st Annual Stuff the Stocking event which includes donating 50 stockings to the Boys & Girls Club of Niagara Falls. In addition, the group is donating money raised through social media efforts – currently totaling around $500 – for the Niagara Falls Firefighters Toy Fund.

Christina Palmeri told the Niagara Reporter that giving back to the community is what drives all organizers.

“There are people less fortunate than we are and it is important to give back to our community,” said Palmeri. “The pandemic has impacted a lot of people financially so there are more in need now than ever before. This is what a community does. HELP! and we just want to help facilitate and bring people together.”

The group is going to the Boys and Girls club on Friday, December 18th, 2020, with 50 stockings and then presenting the Niagara Falls Fighters with a check.

If you would like to give money, donations can be made via Venmo at MADEINTHE716.
