The Niagara Reporter was the first to report on Wednesday, July 1st, 2020, that Western New York’s beloved Fantasy Island theme park in Grand Island, New York, would be back in 2021, after an announcement was made by Empire Adventure.

According to their website, “Empire Adventures is working hard on bringing back Fantasy Island, a defunct amusement park located on Grand Island, NY.” The full website can be seen below.

Empire Adventures also published a Facebook page and posted about the re-opening of Fantasy Island. A screenshot can be seen below:

However, within 24-hours of publishing the website and Facebook page, and the Niagara Reporter’s coverage of the news, Empire Adventures shut down their website and Facebook page. The company is not responding to comment regarding what their plans are and why they took down the website and social media pages.

What seemed like total confirmation of a plan to save Fantasy Island on July 1st, 2020, has turned into confusion and doubt on July 2nd, 2020.

Was it a joke? Is it real? Could it have been a test balloon to gage public sentiment?

The Niagara Reporter will keep you updated as the story progresses.
