The Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union (FCU) announces its commitment to make a significant investment to Niagara County nonprofits starting with Lockport CARES, who provide men, women, and families with children, emergency shelter, material needs, and compassionate care with dignity and respect.  A check in the amount of $3,500 was presented to the organization’s Executive Director, Reverend Kevin Wing on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

Upon receiving this donation, Kevin expressed his gratitude:  “From time to time I get to meet some of our donors face to face, and recently that was the case when I was invited to attend a meeting of the Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union Board of Directors.  These men and women presented Lockport CARES with a generous donation, and allowed some time for us to tell them about our mission to support Lockport’s neediest men, women, and families.  I never cease to be amazed at the generosity of our partners and their sincere interest in our cause.”

Lockport CARES was established in 2008 in which God’s love, as shown through Jesus Christ, empowered its founders to offer love, compassion, and respite for those who find themselves suddenly in need of basic human needs and improved well-being.  The Living Well Program provides woman, men, and families with children, instruction and hands-on learning in basic life skills while offering the opportunity to feel, see, and know the love of Christ.  Designated with the 2019 Guide Star Bronze Seal of Transparency, Lockport CARES continues to positively impact the Niagara County community in immeasurable ways.  Anyone can visit https://www.lockportcares.org/ for more information or to provide tangible support through donations to the Lockport CARES wish list, or volunteering time.

Cornerstone Community FCU extends its outreach to Niagara County nonprofits who work tirelessly each and every day to ease the burden on fellow members of the community.  David Nemi, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Cornerstone Community FCU, says “This is the first of four donations to be given to nonprofits operating in Niagara County in an effort to show support for the community, and to help lift the financial burden caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.”
