10-Year-Old Child Awarded $525,000 for Lead Poisoning Injuries

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK- After a two week trial before the Hon. John J. Ark, Supreme Court Justice, Monroe County, Joseph Yeomas, a ten-year-old Rochester resident, was awarded $525,000 for injuries he suffered from lead poisoning while residing in a Rochester rental property owned by Ibero American Action League, Inc.

"We are pleased with the result obtained for this well-deserving young child who was poisoned by lead based paint through no fault of his own," said Michael A. Ponterio, a partner at the law firm of Lipsitz & Ponterio, LLC, who is one of the attorneys that represented the Yeomas child at trial.

"The monies from this award will be placed into a Supplemental Needs Trust for the sole benefit of Joseph Yeomas in order to help him as he progresses through the Rochester City School District and transitions into adulthood," Ponterio said.

Joseph Yeomas was represented at trial by attorney Michael Ponterio and Lipsitz & Ponterio attorneys Keith R. Vona and Zachary J. Woods. Ibero was represented by attorneys Barbara L. Schifeling and Jennifer L. Leonardi of the law firm of Damon Morey LLP.

This case was filed in New York State Supreme Court for Monroe County, Index No: 2009-5595
