Urges Legislature to Review Department Leadership

LOCKPORT—Niagara County Manager Jeffrey M. Glatz submitted his resignation today, effective the last day of March 20http://southbuffalonews.com6, preparing for a departure from the post he has held for five years.

In a letter that thanked county lawmakers for the trust they had placed in him, Glatz announced that he had decided to “step away from the rigors of serving as the chief administrator for a public corporation with a significant annual budget and a large workforce” to free up time to focus on other aspects of his life.

Glatz also urged lawmakers to “take the opportunity” presented by significant changeover in Legislative leadership and conduct a thorough review of county department management to ensure the government continues to “identify individuals that can make a positive impact on government policy through expertise and management style.”

Glatz set a March 3http://southbuffalonews.com deadline for his departure to allow county leaders to execute a search for his replacement.

“It’s been a great honor, and more importantly, a privilege to work for our taxpayers every day the last five years, and I’m proud of our accomplishments,” Glatz said while officially turning in his resignation letter at the office of County Clerk Wayne F. Jagow today.

Glatz cited a settled contract with the county’s second-largest union and significant progress in labor talks with the county’s other unions, the sale of a former county nursing home and its return to the tax rolls as a productive and occupied residence facility, acquisition of properties that had been under long-term lease by the county, and the production of responsible budgets with low spending increases as his main accomplishment’s as the county’s chief administrator.
