HALIFAX, Nova Scotia -- Whether or not Billy Shrubsall is found to be a "dangerous offender" under Canadian law, he won't be free to commit any more crimes against women for decades to come, law enforcement officials told the Reporter.
His sentencing hearing, which began in February, could last into June, the sources said.
Shrubsall, who has ballooned to 250 pounds, spends his days in the Halifax courtroom wearing a too-tight blue suit, doodling on a legal pad and paying scant attention to the testimony against him. His nights are spent in isolation, having been spit on and threatened by other inmates as a sex offender.
