Inside the Project 308 Gallery on Oliver Street, art was being used not only to stimulate visual senses but also to heal. It is called Art Therapy and it was part of a show called ‘Connection, self, other and community.’

On display were works of arts and in attendance were therapists. Organizers say the goal is to get people to improve their overall mental health.

“This is a way for people to understand not only what these various mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia looks like, but hear from actual clients about how they use art as a healing mechanism and how it is helpful to them,” said Rachel Sikorski, Event Organizer.

More than 20 artists had various types to work on display ranging from sculptures to paintings.
