The old cop shook his head. "Don't even go there," he said. "Just forget about it."
I'd asked him about the 1964 murder of Sam Alaimo, a brutal crime that stunned the city and remains unsolved to this day. Of all the homicides in the Niagara Falls Police Department's cold case files, the Alaimo killing is one of the coldest.
And the old cop let me know in no uncertain terms there are people still around today who'd like to see it stay that way.
