Surprisingly, things have been quiet on the Patrick Kane front for more than a week, and the Chicago Tribune resorted to writing a mostly flattering profile on Kane’s Buffalo lawyer, Paul Cambria, who is very well known in Western New York and beyond for his legal prowess.
Kane, of course, is the 26-year-old South Buffalo hockey star who plays in Chicago for the Blackhawks and who is under investigation by local authorities for a rape claim filed against him by a 21-year-old former UB cheerleader.
Cambria has been confident from the start of this investigation back in early August that Kane would eventually be cleared, and we reported exclusively two weeks ago that one and possibly two or three DNA samples were found in the accuser’s rape test kit, none belonging to Kane.
We reported last week that a clearly upset Erie County DA Frank Sedita--after branding a claim by the accuser’s legal team of evidence tampering as a “hoax” perpetrated by the alleged victim’s mother---appeared to be leaning toward not presenting the case to a grand jury.
Sedita has said nothing since that “hoax” press conference, and the Tribune kept the story going by writing a profile on Cambria, Kane’s lawyer, who expects Kane to be cleared and the young woman to file a civil lawsuit of some kind, even though Cambria has insisted all along that no discussions have taken place.
We’ll keep you posted.
