Pit Bulls, vicious or vilified?

Pit Bulls ARE the Problem

In response to your article last week, "Are Pit Bulls the Problem?" the answer is "yes.

I sympathize with decent Pit Bull owners and also with the Niagara County SPCA, since it is walking several tightropes: the no kill one, the contract trouble with the city of Niagara Falls and, of course, the pit bull tightrope.

But Pit Bulls ARE the problem if only due to their numbers, let alone their danger. They are the troublesome breed in Niagara Falls due to sheer numbers.

How did they become the problem? Poodles or hounds are not the problem.

Hounds are not biter/killers. They are hunter and scent breeds. Pit Bulls bring unique and dangerous issues to the table.

The nature and danger of the Pit Bull can be debated, but bite numbers don't lie, the breed connection to criminal behavior and their large numbers in the city contradict the Pit Bull lover's claims.

The lingering contract between the SPCA is one probably bothering the SPCA, and my guess is that Mayor Paul Dyster is impossible to negotiate with.

The missing link to the entire problem is that the no-kill policy is making the entire situation more troublesome: Too many dogs, no matter what breeds, and the way the dog numbers and contractual issues play out for the SPCA with regard to Niagara Falls.

Sure Pit Bulls are lovable if treated lovingly. But too many Pit Bulls, their being a troublesome breed, no-kill plans at SPCA, and an unsettled city contract add up to an unsolvable problem for the SPCA.

What have we learned: no-kill is not easy to do, and Dyster has no business opening a costly shelter. But he will open the shelter if reelected?

What A Dump

Not sure if anyone noticed in a recent episode of the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, but he had Nicole Kidman on as a guest. She mentioned that her husband had performed in NF on New Year's Eve. When asked if it was on the Canadian side, she answered in the affirmative. Jimmy then mentioned how horrible the American side is and that nobody goes there..... Couldn't disagree. It's been bad since the 60's and is way worse now. To quote Bette Davis, "What a dump".

Dear Mr Parlato,

I sent you a copy of an outrageous water bill. This link I am attaching may lend to reasons for it. It would be interesting if your paper could do some type of poll to see how many people in NF are affected by rising rates. The fact hacking can occur in the system is problematic along with the expense of the homeowner having to prove that the meter is faulty. I object to these meters due to radiofrequency affect on health.

Nobody Will Believe This

Hi, my name is Kathy and I hope you will print this. I was driving on the Robert Moses on my way to a cleaning job this morning, 9 am. My car got a flat tire about a half mile from the Youngstown exit. It was freezing outside. I called for roadside assist which would be at least an hour. OK I would have to wait. Along came Alan, asked me if I was OK. I said yes. I had a flat tire and was waiting for help. He asked if he could change my tire for me. It would only take 15 minutes and I would be on my way, so I said I would really appreciate that and we couldn't find the jack etc etc. Anyway he got the spare on and I thanked him. I did not have any money with me. He did not want anything just wanted me to know there are still some good people out there but he would not leave me. He followed me to a garage in Youngstown and made sure I was safe. Just know he was a young guy. Know there are good people out there. I can not thank him enough

Hold Lord Dyster Accountable

Here we are again. Another new year.

Time has past us by unfortunately leaving us again in dire straits.

Lord Mayor and his band of elves have again not done well by the job we elected them to and we, the people, have again given them an open pass on most of everything they have been able to screw up.

There are so many things it would take a book to include them, but I will endeavor to mention just a few. First and foremost, when I read that Lord Paul makes the statement that he is the "Gate Keeper of our Casino monies" is about as far as anyone has ever gone to insult us the People. Here we stand up to our butts in debt, passing the financial buck into the next year and for one person to make such a statement is totally absurd.

Worse, his band of elves, when they had a chance to shut him down, blew it, Explain to me WHY are we the people obligated to spend our much needed monies that would help our financial problem, to have it blown away on a New Years Eve extravaganza? By the way $10,000 to drop a guitar off the roof? Seems like someone has their hand in the cookie jar again. Might I suggest that in realization of our poor financial problems, deduct the giveaway from Lord Paul's and his three elves who approved it from their upcoming pay check

Another thought, how about passing a ruling that any future Mayor be held responsible to get a Budget out ON TIME and for every day past the allotted time, fine them at a good amount so as it might give them an incentive to get OFF Their A*** & and get their work done on time as is required by LAW PERIOD!

May I ask, also, why do we allow a council member to continue to hold out on reporting the facts required by his elected job for a good number of years, refusing to do his legal filing. Would seem he is TOTALLY In disregard of his duties or maybe above them?

May I also note that recently, the lady of the council had a photo of her trash piled curbside while the rest of us have been badgered to use the 'TOTES" And the list goes on.

As we enter 2015,1 have hopes that those we elected, and who have joined Lord Paul disregarding us the people, those whose terms are expiring along with Lord Paul will get booted off the scene next election. It is high time ALL Politicians begin doing their jobs in doing the People's business instead of as in the past and present.

This City needs a clean sweep. TIME TO BE ACCOUNTANTABLE

Let us all work toward cleaning house and hopefully electing these who put US, the People FIRST. A very Happy and Healthy New Years To All.

She's Against Sex Offender Registry

Let's get real folks! Ariel Castro (Ohio), Jerry Sandusky (PA) and many others we hear and read about were NOT on any public registry and that is EXACTLY THE POINT.

The public has been groomed to believe all they have to do is check a registry and be aware of "those on it" and their family will be safe. The truth of the matter is that according to credible studies the recidivism rate for another "sexual" offense is 3.5 % and those who are beginning to educate families are advising the other 93-95% of sexual offenses come from within the victim's family, friends and those having access to the children and NEVER get reported.

There are over 819,218 men, women and children (as young as 6, 8 and 10 in some states) required to register and the "crimes" range from urinating in public (indecent exposure), sexting, incest, mooning, exposure, false accusations by a soon-to-be ex-wife, angry girlfriend, or spiteful student, viewing abusive OR suggestive images of anyone18 years old or younger, playing doctor, prostitution, solicitation, Romeo and Juliet consensual sexual dating relationships, rape, endangering the welfare of a child and many others.

If you multiply the number on the registry by 2 or 3 family members you can clearly see there are well over 3 million wives, children, moms, aunts, girlfriends, grandmothers and other family members who experience the collateral damage of being harassed, threatened, children beaten, have signs placed in their yards, homes set on fire, vehicles damaged, asked to leave their churches and other organizations, children passed over for educational opportunities, have flyers distributed around their neighborhood, wives lose their jobs when someone learns they are married to a registrant....all these things occur when these people try to hold their family together and provide the three things that professionals state are needed for successful re-integration; a job, a place to live and a good support system.

Education is the key....so set-up Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training to empower kids and teens to protect themselves as much as possible and to speak up if someone makes them uncomfortable or oversteps their bounddry. Programs like radKIDs and others are great tools. Parents cannot be everywhere.

Clueless Is Dyster

If Mayor Dyster has any visions whatsoever of running for election next year he desperately needs to make a few New Year's Eve resolutions to garner votes. His public announcements are causing even his staunchest supporters to question his integrity.

It is bad enough that he adamantly refuses to take responsibility for his financial disasters: HOLIDAY MARKET, ISAIAH 61 PROJECT, HARD ROCK CONCERTS, UNDERGROUND

RAILROAD, TRAIN STATION, and POLICE STATION, to name a few.

But to add insult to injury, he prides himself by taking credit for the actions of others that he was totally against in the first place.

Everyone knows that he was dead set against the famous Wallenda Walk, but chooses to credit himself with its success. MAZIARZ was the hero there.

Dyster, along with Paul Drof (NFWB) were pushing for FRACKING. yet when Gov. Cuomo decided that it was a bad thing, Dyster rolled over and agreed with him and praised
Cuomo. CHOOLOKIAN was the hero there.

The Hamister Hotel disaster, that was Dyster's cure-all for Niagara Fall's woes and had to be built immediately, and virtually given away on prime property, is another example of Dyster's claim to fame. As yet not a shovel has been placed in the ground. And this 4 star endeavor is so far reduced to a mere MOTOR INN. FRUSCIONE was the hero there, and as a result, lost his job over it.

Dyster insisted that $27,000 be donated to the infamous HARD ROCK BALL DROP. Now he says HE thinks it was a bad idea. He should have listened to CHOOLOKIAN in the first place.

I am anxious to see who will take the credit for new BASEBALL PARKS. CHOOLOKIANS idea.

We can only wait and see if any or all apologies are forthcoming.
