Tipsy Would-Be Burglars Easy Prey for Cops

A couple of would-be burglars were thwarted by demon alcohol and their own stupidity last week after an attempted break-in at a business at 8628 Niagara Falls Boulevard last week.

Police arriving on the scene found Jason Lautenberg and Robert Oyer hanging around a darkened side of the building and asked what they were doing there. Both men appeared a little tipsy, Lautenberg - who was actually drinking a 24 oz. can of beer at the time - more so. Oyer responded they were just walking down the street, minding their own business, when they decided to relieve themselves against the side of the building.

An alert officer noted scratch marks on one of the building’s door locks and no one was surprised when a cursory search turned up a large screwdriver, a lock picking kit and a knife in Oyer and Lautenberg’s possession.

The two men were cuffed and transported to the city’s expensive new Public Safety Building at 1925 North Main Street, where they were booked on numerous charges including attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools.

It is a well known fact that getting drunk before committing your crime increases the chances of you getting caught by a high percentage. Most people sitting in prison today were drunk or high at the time they did the crime they were convicted of.

Don’t let this happen to you.
