Corsaro Seeks GOP Nod for 4th District

Candace Corsaro, "I believe in giving back to the community"

Niagara Falls native Candace Corsaro has announced plans to seek the Republican endorsement to run against incumbent Democrat Owen Steed Sr. for the 4th District legislative seat.

The 62-year-old Corsaro said, “I have seen the greatness of our city and its worst.”

Corsaro attended Trott Vocational, class of 1968, for cosmetology, and is a licensed cosmetologist.

She is also a licensed real estate agent with Great Lakes Real Estate, one of the leading area real estate companies.

Formerly a Democrat, she switched affiliation to the Republican Party last year. She has served on the Niagara Falls Board of Assessments and the Youth Board.

She was founder and president of the Hyde Park Business and Professional Association, a member of the NYS and Buffalo-Niagara Association of Realtors, member of the Niagara Military Affairs Council, OLIN Community Advisory Panels and Cristoforo Colombo Society.

She was past-vice president of Niagara Falls Block Club Council; past president of the Niagara Falls Kiwanis Club; lieutenant governor  for Kiwanis Niagara Frontier North Division; founder and past president of the North End Block Club; project manager (designer) for Child’s Kingdom Nor-Lock Playground and past president of Niagara Falls Weed and Seed Site One.

"As a private citizen I believe in giving back to our community," Corsaro said.

She obtained $250,000 in funding and managed a partnership with the Niagara University, City of Niagara Falls and the North End Block Club for Niagara Falls' first handicap accessible playground, Nor-Lock Kiddy Park.

Of this, Niagara Gazette columnist Kenny Hamilton wrote, "You see, if the people had a voice in who best represents the dream of Dr. King, then they would select people like Corsaro. Without push, pay or portfolio, she did what she could do to make our world a better place. She gave the kids a park. She did it as a common citizen. Without fuss or fanfare, she did what we all could, and should, do."

Not afraid to take vocal positions on a variety of issues, Corsaro fought to keep firehouses open in the LaSalle area, spoke out against all-girl charter schools, and against Mayor Paul Dyster's neighborhood altering plan to convert Jayne Park on Cayuga Island from a quiet local park to a regional destination park.

Corsaro attends many council meetings, budget meetings and civic functions.

As a realtor she promotes the region regularly as part of her work.

"There are many beautiful areas in Niagara Falls, some needing a little improvement. All in all, Niagara Falls offers great opportunities for families and business people. People who I have helped move here, love it!  Thinking of re-settling, think of Niagara Falls and the surrounding area in Western New York."
