Annual community picnic and baby shower to be held July 23

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center's Community Health Worker Program and the Healthy Moms-Healthy Babies Coalition will celebrate the benefits of breastfeeding July 23 with a community picnic, breastfeeding walk and baby shower at Hyde Park.

The event will promote breastfeeding awareness, child safety, prenatal and maternal health, and good old-fashioned summer fun.

Registration will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the Hyde Park wading pool. A one-mile Breastfeeding Walk led by the Niagara County Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a picnic and baby shower sponsored by the March of Dimes and the Family & Children's Service of Niagara-Healthy Families Niagara program.

The first 50 to register will receive giveaways from participating community agencies and an opportunity to win baby items. The Niagara Falls Police Department's Traffic Safety Division will be on hand to conduct car seat safety checks.

This free event is open to all expecting moms, mothers and babies, and their families. In case of rain, the event will be held in the Oasis Shelter at Hyde Park.
