Counties and the People are Protesting Cuomo's SAFE Act

By Rus Thompson

Martin Luther King openly
supported concealed firearms and owned an entire "arsenal" of firearms.
The British took guns away from India and the pacifist Gandhi called it the worst of deeds.
“Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest." - Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi, an Autobiography, pg 446.

For the past few weeks hundreds of 2nd Amendment activists have been working hard behind the scenes contacting their local Legislators and asking them to stand up and introduce resolutions at the County, Town, Village and City levels against the SAFE Act.

This Bill, now Law was pushed through by Governor Cuomo and the Legislature in the late hours and the wee hours of the morning, with a message of necessity attached to it so it could be pushed and passed without any public input whatsoever.
Legislators in both houses had no time to read the Bill and some Senators are now saying they were lied to in order to get their votes.

Our sole intention here is to get all our local representatives to stand up and be heard. We intend to back them in to a corner and tell us where they stand on the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment that gives us the RIGHT to keep and bear arms. As you can see below there are many counties that have passed or are working on resolutions at the county level.

Towns are doing the same, on March 4th the Grand Island Town Board will vote, Wellsville called the SAFE Act illegal.
The Association of Erie County Governments passed a resolution to Amend SAFE Act.

The momentum is building from the grassroots up from locals to county, all in response to this nonsense coming from the most dysfunctional legislature in the country, Albany New York and a Governor hell bent on beating President Obama to the punch by passing the strictest gun law in the country. I think Cuomo and all the legislators jumped the shark on this, they have awoken a sleeping giant, an armed community that crosses all political lines and lifestyles. Even Occupy Buffalo attended our 2nd Amendment Protest at Niagara Square to show support for us. By far the largest rally ever held in Niagara Square with a crowd that exceeded 3200. These people are refusing to obey and will not register their supposed assault rifles. To them these politicians have crossed a line they never should have even contemplated doing. I have never seen the anger I see now in the 18 years I have been involved in politics.

We will not allow this Law to stand, it must be repealed.
