20 animals to die tomorrow?

Minutes before press time, we received a phone call from Ryan Bordner, a kennel attendant at the CCSPCA. He told the Reporter that his superiors had instructed him to go to the facility on Sunday night and select 10 dogs and 10 cats to be killed.

Bordner said he was instructed to take these animals in his own car to be killed the next morning, just prior to our Tuesday publication date. Bordner said, "higher ups" were worried that, following the story, an inspection would reveal the magnitude of suffering of cats and dogs.

The Reporter made a call to Kristen McDonald, CCSPCA Board Chair, who denied such an instruction had been given. When asked to confirm that on the record, she refused and hung up.

The Reporter will be monitoring this closely.
