Niagara Hub has perspective on Lewiston Road

Niagara Hub (www.niagarahub.com) reporting on the meeting at Lewiston Road.

... Conversations went in every direction including concerns of radio-activity, dust and dirt, pedestrians falling into holes, and damage to cars and property as the snow starts to fall and the job is stopped....

I think these fine citizens of Deveaux have been pretty patient with the shenanigans that have kept their windows closed and their car rides bumpy for far too long... Frustrations spilled over as a lawyer explained the status of the lawsuit brought upon the city by the contractor.... Then came the experts on radiation, radioactivity, gamma-rays, and in general, random information far too much for a first meeting. In one dramatic move, a so-called Geiger-counter was offered to the crowd if anyone wanted to test their property. That’s kind of like passing out stethoscopes and asking everyone to check the neighbors for heart disease. I trust the residents are smart enough to realize there are many issues to be identified, quantified, and qualified before anyone has to run for the hills. As one attendee said, “We’ve lived here for years. No matter how bad it is now, just put a layer of asphalt on it to get us through the winter, nobody’s moving to Arizona tomorrow.”

I think practicality will prevail here and I hope this group can organize and collectively rattle the attention of someone who can answer some questions and get them some action.
