NF Ontario Mayor hopes to work with Maziarz on cross promotion of Falls

State Senator George Maziarz (left) was the true representative of Niagara Falls when he worked to make the Nik Wallenda (right) walk a reality, despite Niagara Falls, New York Mayor Paul Dyster’s steady opposition.
Mayor James Diodati hugs Nik Wallenda after his successful crossing.

Here is a hopeful letter: One of the most hopeful and true letters we have seen in years coming from the pen of a politician.

It comes from Niagara Falls, Ontario Mayor James Diodati and was written last week to New York State Senator George Maziarz, who is running for re election and, for the first time, if he wins, will be representing Niagara Falls.

A lot of people already think Maziarz represents the Falls because of his commitment to helping people who call him with their troubles in the city. But, officially, he does not. If he wins re election this will be his first chance to serve the people of Niagara Falls and one cannot help but hope, as Mayor Diodati says he does, that this may herald a new era of cooperation and productivity for the benighted city of Niagara Falls, New York and the successful city in Ontario with the same name:

Dear Senator George

I wanted to send a quick note with my best wishes for your successful re-election on Tuesday, November 6.
It was truly remarkable as we made history, with the recent Wallenda walk. It was the most watched event on the planet that day, with all eyes of the world fixed on Niagara Falls. We are having one of our best tourism season in years, and I am certain it is as a direct result of the Wallenda walk. This took an incredible amount of co-operation, persistence and 'guts'. Thank you for your continuous and ongoing leadership to help make this memorable event a reality.
Wishing you the best with your senate re-election in the 62nd District. Now that Niagara Falls is included in your district, I look forward to continuing to work together, to converge and create more historic events and opportunities.

Sincerely,
Mayor James M. Diodati
