Mrs. Ceretto endorses her husband, John

By Beth Ceretto

Beth Ceretto, wife of John D. Ceretto, then 138th District Assemblyman-elect, holds the Bible, surrounded by their family, Theresa, Anne Marie and John, as Ceretto accepts the oath of office, while being sworn by state Sen. George Maziarz, at the Como Restaurant, in Niagara Falls, January 1, 2011.

I would like to take a moment of your time to tell you a little bit about one of the most caring and honorable person in the world, my husband John.

John and I have been together for nearly 40 years now, since we first met in a Lewiston pub (not in church like we've told our kids their entire lives). Even then, the traits that make John such a great advocate for our community: warmth, understanding, intelligence and loyalty were there.

Since getting married in 1978, I've maintained a day care service and have seen John work two jobs to put food on the table and help our four wonderful children get through college and graduate school. We've lived from paycheck to paycheck before and had to use HEAP and WIC to get by during rough patches.

It's things like these that made me support John when he asked me if he should run for Assembly. Even though it meant not having him home for lengthy periods of time, the dedication he has shown to helping others ever since coaching children at the recreation program our children attended and our real-life experiences with the day-to-day issues that affect us all, I knew he had to run. And I'm glad he did, since community service is truly John's gift. No one puts in more hours than he does to provide a voice for our families.

John has put a lot of thought and effort into addressing their concerns; we have dealt with many of these concerns ourselves. John works hard for our families. I hope you will consider joining me in voting for the man I admire and love - my husband and our Assemblyman, John Ceretto.
