A message from Niagara Falls school superintendent

By Cynthia Bianco

Cynthia Bianco
As a result of the referendum, STEM cell labs will be installed in every school.

Recently, the community overwhelmingly approved the $67 million capital projects we call ‘Inventing Tomorrow.’ These projects will allow us to improve security, upgrade infrastructure, create state-of-the-art science labs in every school, make our campuses wireless, install synthetic turf on athletic fields, and improve energy efficiency. They will also provide work for the trades for three to five years.

On behalf of the students of the District and the Board of Education, I want to thank all those who took the time to learn about the projects and cast a ballot on the issue. In the last dozen years, the District has gone to the voters with the promise that approved capital projects will not cause an increase to the tax levy. In that time, the District has built Niagara Falls High School and Niagara Street School as well as performing many upgrades and capital improvements, and no tax increase has resulted. That is our promise again, and we will keep it.

It is my firm belief that in these days of higher New York State Learning Standards, the globalization of economy, and the increased competition for well-paying jobs, it is more important than ever that our students receive an education that is comparable to that offered in any more affluent municipality. The stakes are higher and the game is more competitive; the ultimate winners or losers will be our children.

I therefore thank you sincerely for approving the projects that will allow us to continue to provide the best learning opportunities, facilities, and technology to our youth. We are committed to graduating students who are well prepared for college, apprenticeships, or military service. I invite the community to track our progress on these approved projects and our educational goals. Together, we will succeed in providing Learning For All.
Whatever It Takes.
