Tera Ciesla named bariatrics coordinator at Falls Memorial

Tera CieslaTera M. Ciesla, RPA-C, has been appointed bariatrics coordinator at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Ms. Ciesla, who has 10 years experience as a physician assistant, holds a degree in Physician Assistant Studies from D’Youville College and is experienced in all aspects of critical care. She previously practiced at Buffalo Cardiothoracic Surgery Associates and Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
Ms. Ciesla will work with Dr. Bala Thatigotla and Dr. Dang Tuan Pham to coordinate care and services for patients at Niagara Metabolic & Bariatric Services, a partnership between Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and Buffalo Minimally Invasive Weight Loss Surgical Solutions.

Medical center auxiliary installs new officers

The Auxiliary of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center recently installed its slate of officers and directors for 2012-2013. They are, from left, Vice President Patricia Berggren, Treasurer Alanna Wustrack, President Jane Grenke, Corresponding Secretary Hazel Baxter and Recording Secretary Sue Dokey.
The Auxiliary also honored members Mary Norton for 25 years of volunteer service and Alice Snyder for contributing 887 hours of service in 2011.
Organized in 1905, the Auxiliary operates the medical center’s gift shop and raises funds for medical equipment and programs. In 2011, the Auxiliary raised $47,121 for Memorial’s new patient and family learning center and for Schoellkopf Health Center.

Memorial Medical center honors volunteers

DonNiagara Falls Memorial Medical Center recently honored more than 300 community volunteers for contributing a combined 44,740 hours of service to Memorial in 2011. Leading the way was Don Roulley (pictured), who contributed 1,507 hours to the medical center’s escort and coffee cart services. Alice Avdoian, Phyllis Corey, Joe Currie, Bill Everest, Diane Glynn, Suzanne Muller, Mel Ricker, Peggy Shenk and Alice Snyder were honored for donating more than 500 hours of service each. Memorial volunteers include active adults, Medical Center Auxiliary members, middle school, high school and university students, and participants from the Mary C. Dyster Center for Young Parents and Niagara County Employment & Training programs.

21st Annual Niagara Cup Classic raises
$40,000 for Memorial Medical Center

Niagara Cup Classic champions: One hundred-forty golfers took to the links June 5 at the Niagara Falls Country Club for the
21st Annual Niagara Cup Classic golf tournament. The tournament netted $40,000, which will benefit Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery Program.
The winning foursome of, from left, Eric Milie, Brian Viviano, Jeremy Noah and Bob Danka carded a best two balls net team score of 121.
Women’s all-star champions were Patty McPherson, Alanna Wustrack, Sarah Kisewski and Paula Roscetti.
Patrick Keating carded a 67 to capture first place honors for gross score.
The Niagara Cup Classic has raised more than $1 million for programs and equipment at Memorial.
