'NO PROBLEM, CASINO WILL PAY FOR IT'

A $50-plus million courthouse, built in 2008, has a $3 million annual debt payment. Originally it was to be a $12 million, no frills courthouse. But city leaders said, “Money no object. Casino will pay for it.”

A $40 million train station, with, amazingly, a projection of only 125 riders per day is being built. It will cost more than $30 to put a rider on a train.

City leaders said, “Money no object. Casino will pay for it.”

They built a tiny Underground Railroad Exhibit, spending millions, and a million more trying to prove history that never happened here. City leaders said, “Not taxpayer business. Casino will pay for it.”

They bought costly to operate equipment, furnished offices lavishly, had Holiday Markets and free concerts.
“No problem, casino pay for it.”

And they blew though tens of millions. Like gamblers in the casino, the city leaders gambled and taxpayers are paying for many of these things, city leaders said casino will pay for.
